Some days I walk though the grocery store, look at all the freezer prepared foods, and think...that would be so easy. I pick up the box of prepared pasta or frozen breaded meat, look at the ingredients, and feel like I'm reading another language. Frustrated, I look at the sodium count, shake my head in disgust, and move on. It's not worth it.
Then I go into the frozen organic section and do the same at the prices. Again, not worth it. So I make most of our meals as much from scratch as I can and live with the fact that fast food for us is 30 minutes, which really isn't that bad!
Still, I would be nice, for the days when I don't have 30 minutes, to have something healthy and really quick.
I've been investigating ways to save money- not just on quick foods- but on all household items. There has to be a way to balance the budget and buy REAL food.
I heard that companies will send coupons if you ask...what a concept!
So I wrote to my favorite organic companies and...

This is actually only about half of what I received because I've been busy buying wonderful food for half the price, if not FREE!
Last night we dined on
Which is my favorite way to spend a Friday night when I've worked all day and the husband is traveling. It tasted good, it was on sale, I had a coupon so it was CHEAP, and my kids didn't do off the wall behaviors from too much sodium or dyes.
It's amazing...opening up a box and finding....REAL FOOD! Like grown in the ground food. Like food that looks like food because it came from a farm instead of a factory.
I know cooking and buying real food is not always easy. My husband and I work full time, take care of two kids, and do all the things one must do these days on a pretty tight budget.
I know that real food makes a difference though. I can tell which of my students had good breakfasts and which had something artificial from a box.
I can tell which students eat and drink too many things with red dyes and which ones ate sugar and carbs for lunch.
I can tell which students ate protein and drank good things like water (without artificial flavoring) and organic milk too.
What we put in our children's bodies makes a big difference! BIG!
So if you are like me and want to put more FOOD on your table (sometimes even fast food) but don't always have the means to do so, email your favorite organic companies.
It will be worth it!
ALL FREE :)
Not pictured because it's in our bellies- organic- chili, carrots, another pizzas, fries, lettuce, yogurt, and juice- free or bought with coupons.
About half of the companies I wrote to responded with coupons. Here is who you should email:
